How does parent billing work when invoices are consolidated?

Problem Statement

Do child subscriptions that start on different days get consolidated? Does Chargebee consolidate child invoices for one parent account?

Solution

Chargebee consolidates child invoices for a parent account when:

  1. Consolidated invoicing is enabled
  2. All child subscriptions share a common billing date

If child subscriptions start on different days, enable Calendar billing so they renew on the same day. See Calendar billing configuration and alignment of billing date. Proration applies when aligning to the billing date.

Once the payment relationship is set, payments use the payment owner (parent) account. See Account Hierarchy - Invoices.

Account Hierarchy is available on the Enterprise plan.
