AI agents
The Chargebee CLI integrates with your AI coding agents to support predictable workflows for calling Chargebee APIs and generating SDK code samples.
The chargebee-cli skill gives your agent instructions for using the CLI. It supports Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and other agents through the universal option.
Set up your agent
From your project directory:
chargebee skills addChoose your agent and whether to install the skill for the current project or all your projects.
To list all available skills without installing them:
chargebee skills add --listList installed skills:
chargebee skills listAPI requests require a configured site.
Install for a specific agent
Specify the agent and scope to skip selection prompts:
chargebee skills add --agent claude-code --projectYou can repeat --agent to install for multiple agents, or use --global to install for all your projects:
chargebee skills add --agent cursor --agent codex --project
chargebee skills add --agent cursor --globalTry it
Ask your agent:
Use the Chargebee CLI to look up the parameters for creating a customer and generate an SDK code sample for my project. With a test site configured, try:
List up to 20 invoices from my Chargebee test site and show each invoice’s ID, total, and status. The CLI provides:
- API reference:
chargebee docs <resource> <operation>returns parameter names, types, and required flags. - SDK examples:
--code-sample <lang>generates code samples. See Code samples. - Machine-readable output:
--jsonreturns structured output without interactive prompts.listenstreams one JSON record per line. See JSON output.
Manage the skill
Check installed skills, refresh their instructions, or remove an installation:
chargebee skills list
chargebee skills update
chargebee skills remove --agent cursorSafety checks
Commands run by agents follow the same CLI safety checks:
- Live-site restrictions: write operations and
chargebee listenare blocked on live sites. - Catalog compatibility: operations that do not match the site’s Product Catalog version are blocked before an API request.
- API keys: generated code samples use placeholder keys. Saved keys follow the CLI’s credential storage settings.
