I cannot transfer configurations from the Test site to Live site

Problem Statement

You are experiencing transfer configuration errors under Customer-facing essentials, or you cannot transfer TAXES from your TEST site to your LIVE site.

Solution

Transfer configuration errors can occur if you have not met one or more of the following requirements.

Admin access

  • You must have Admin access to both sites.
  • Both sites must be in the same data center (e.g., both in the US data center).
  • Only site admins can transfer configurations from TEST to LIVE.

If you are a team member: Ask your admin to add you as a team member for both TEST and LIVE with full access: Settings > Team Members > Modify Team Members > Edit/Change role to full access.

If you don't have access to Chargebee: See Unable to accept invite due to unclaimed site.

Taxes

  • Currencies configured on the TEST site must match those on the LIVE site.

Email

  1. Configuration settings: Ensure configuration settings are the same on TEST and LIVE. For example, having Dunning enabled on LIVE but disabled on TEST will block transfer.

  2. Action Emails: Ensure Action Emails are enabled on your TEST site. Check under Chargebee Dashboard > Configure Chargebee > Email Notifications > Standard emails & Custom Emails.

  3. Draft emails: Check for emails in draft state. Changes must be either published or discarded.

Email notification draft state
  1. Action Email version: Use the same version of Action Emails on both sites. Manual emails are not enabled on LIVE by default. See Self-serve emails. Contact support to enable.
Action Email version settings
  1. Sender Address and Signatures: Sync Sender Address and Signatures setup across all email templates.

  2. Scheduled Action Emails: Action Emails in scheduled state are pending actions that block transfer configuration and require backend action. Contact support.

Scheduled Action Emails

Additional Information

Action emails are self-serve emails that send timely notifications and reminders to customers on subscriptions, payments, and related events.
