Loss Aversion Cards help reinforce the value customers receive from your product at the moment they initiate cancellation or downgrade. These cards appear within the Cancel Experience and are designed to highlight usage, features, offers, or messaging that may influence the customer’s decision.
You can display up to four Loss Aversion Cards on a Cancel Page. Each card can be configured to present account activity, product value, social proof, direct calls to action, or custom messaging.
By default, a Cancel Page includes two Loss Aversion Card placements.
You can modify the number of cards displayed (between zero and four) by navigating to Pages > Edit Cancel Page > Page Settings > Loss Aversion Layout, and selecting your preferred layout configuration.
Selecting the appropriate layout allows you to balance persuasive messaging with page simplicity.
Chargebee Growth supports multiple Loss Aversion Card formats. The effectiveness of each card type may vary depending on your use case (for example, cancellation prevention vs. downgrade mitigation).
Activity Cards display customer usage data to reinforce the value already received from your product.
These cards pull data from the Chargebee Growth JS snippet and can display metrics such as usage volume, engagement, or historical activity.
If usage data is low or unavailable, you can configure a fallback card, for example, prompting the customer to complete setup or explore key features.
Feature Cards highlight the functionality or benefits the customer may lose upon cancellation or downgrade. These cards are particularly effective in downgrade scenarios, where customers may not fully realize the impact of moving to a lower-tier plan.
A vertical layout option is also available for feature-focused messaging.
Offer Cards allow you to surface a retention or engagement offer directly within the Loss Aversion section. You can use these cards to:
A vertical CTA (Call-to-Action) layout is also available for stronger visual emphasis.
Message Cards allow you to display custom text to customers during the cancellation flow. This format is useful for:
The Twitter Card allows you to embed a public tweet as social proof within the Cancel Experience. This format can help reinforce product credibility and customer satisfaction by showcasing real user feedback.
For everything else, there's image cards!
Image Cards provide maximum flexibility by allowing you to display a fully custom image. Use this format when you want complete control over layout and design beyond the predefined templates.
