Payment Method Display Rules

This feature is currently a Private Beta release. Contact Chargebee Support to enable Payment Method Display Rules for your live and test sites.

Payment Method Display Rules, configured as part of Advanced Setup in the Payment Optimization Engine, control which payment methods are shown at checkout, their display order, and the conditions that govern their availability.

Benefits of Payment Method Display

  • Personalize Payment Experience during checkout
  • Optimize the Conversion rate by presenting the preferred payment methods based on customer location.

Supported variables for controlling Payment Method display

Use these variables to control which payment methods appear at checkout.

  • Billing Country - Show certain payment methods only for customers from specific billing countries
  • Shipping Country - Show payment methods based on the customer’s shipping country
  • Currency - Display payment methods based on the checkout currency
  • Plan - Configure payment method availability for specific plans
  • Invoice amount - Control payment methods based on the invoice amount

Configuring Payment Method display rules

Testing Payment Method display Rules

Before deploying a rule, it's essential to test it to ensure it meets your requirements and behaves as expected.

Steps to test

  1. Navigate to the Payment Method Display Rules page and click Run Test.
  2. Enter values that match the specific rule you want to test.
  3. Click Run Test to see the results.

If the expected rule appears on the Result page, your rule is correctly configured.

Example

Suppose you've created a rule which states:

"If the billing country is the Netherlands, then offer the following payment method and in the corresponding order of display"

  • iDeal
  • SEPA Direct Debit
  • Cards
  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay
  • Paypal

To test this rule:

  • Enter values matching these conditions
  • Click Run Test

If the correct payment methods appear in the results and in the specified order, the rule is working as expected. If not, close the Test Routing Rule pop-up, review the configuration and test again.
