Tempus

Tempus Technologies is a payment gateway that enables businesses to securely process card payments. Tempus Technologies’ solutions and industry offerings are primarily positioned for the U.S. market, with integrations across U.S.-based sectors like healthcare, insurance, retail, and education.
Supported Payment Methods
Chargebee currently supports only Card payments made via Tempus Technologies. The following are the card types supported:
- Mastercard
- Visa
- Discover
- Diners
- Amex
- JCB
Integration Options
You can integrate the Tempus gateway using the following:

Configuring Tempus in your Chargebee site
Follow the steps below to configure Tempus in your Chargebee site:
- Log in to your Chargebee Billing site.
- Go to Settings > Configure Chargebee > Payment gateways.
- Click Add gateway and select Tempus.

- Enter the RNID, RNCERT and click Connect. Contact Tempus support to get your RNID and RNCERT.

- The Configure Tempus page will open as shown below.

Configuring Card Settings
Cards as a payment method is enabled by default on the Configure Tempus page. Follow these steps to configure Card settings for your Tempus account in Chargebee:
- On the Configure Tempus page, click Manage under Cards.

- Always retain card information in Tempus when the customer updates it: Enable this option to store updated cards in Tempus, even when smart routing switches to another gateway. This prevents customers from gradually migrating to a new gateway when they update their card details.

Note
Tempus Gateway does not support 3D Secure (3DS).
Operations Supported
The following operations are supported for card payments:

Authorization and capture – When a merchant authorizes a transaction, Chargebee checks the customer’s card to verify that the authorized amount is available. A hold is then placed on the card for that amount for a specific period. The merchant can later capture the authorized amount to collect the funds.

Payment (sale in Tempus) – After a successful authorization and capture, Chargebee stores a payment method reference for the card in Tempus. This reference is used to initiate future transactions for the customer.

Refunds – You can issue refunds for captured payments. Tempus supports both full and partial refunds.

Voids – If you don’t want to capture an authorized amount, you can void the authorization.
Add-On services available with Tempus
Tempus provides the following add-on features. To enable them, contact Tempus support:

Duplicate enrollment prevention – Configure the Tempus gateway to prevent duplicate enrollments by applying checks that ensure valid token creation. Learn more about Duplicate Enrollment Prevention.

Repository error queueing – When repository validation (TAVS) is enabled, and payment data is invalid, Tempus doesn’t generate tokens. Learn more about Repository Error Queueing.
