How to change the payment gateway for an existing payment method?

Problem Statement

You want to know how to change the payment gateway for an existing payment method.

Solution

If a customer already has a payment method saved, and you want to change the payment gateway associated with that method, follow the steps below.

Follow these steps to update the payment gateway in your Chargebee site:

  1. Navigate to the record of the desired customer from the Customers section.
  2. Go to the Payment Method section and click on the three dots (⋮) next to the existing payment method.
  3. Select Edit from the dropdown menu.
  4. In the Edit screen, you will see a Gateway Account dropdown.
  5. Choose the desired Payment Gateway from the list.
  6. Save the changes.

Note

Changing the payment gateway here does not create a new payment method; it only updates the gateway used for the current one.
