How do I enable invoice consolidation for new subscriptions?

Related Scenarios

  • Why is my child account not included in the consolidated invoice?
  • How can I ensure first-cycle invoices are consolidated?
  • What settings control invoice consolidation for new subscriptions?

Problem Statement

When managing a parent-child account hierarchy in Chargebee, new subscriptions may not be included in the consolidated invoice. This usually occurs because the Consolidation during Subscription activation setting is disabled. This setting is required for consolidating first-cycle invoices. The Consolidate Invoices for all Customers setting only affects renewal invoices.

Solution

Configuration steps

Step 1: Contact Chargebee Support

The Consolidation during Subscription activation setting requires backend action. Contact Chargebee Support, provide your account details, and request that this setting be enabled.

Step 2: Verify current settings

  1. While waiting for support, ensure your general invoice consolidation settings are correct.
  2. Go to Settings > Configure Chargebee > Billing LogIQ > Billing and Invoices.
  3. Check the Consolidate Invoices for all Customers option and enable it if needed.

Step 3: Confirm changes

  1. After the setting is enabled, verify that new subscriptions are included in consolidated invoices.
  2. Test with a new subscription to confirm it works.
  3. Test on your test site, not your live site.

Important Notes

  • The Consolidation during Subscription activation setting is not available in the Chargebee UI and must be requested from Chargebee Support.
  • This setting is useful for businesses with multiple child accounts under a parent account.
  • Ensure your billing strategy aligns with these settings to avoid unexpected billing behavior.
