Error - Reactivation date is incompatible with plan terms

Problem Statement

Why can't I reactivate a subscription from a past date? I see "Reactivation date is incompatible with plan terms."

Solution

This error appears when the Reactivate from date falls outside the plan's billing term. For a monthly plan, the date must be within the current billing month. For example, if today is January 16, 2020, the Reactivate from date can only be backdated to December 16, 2019 (one month back).

Invoices are created based on the plan's billing terms (monthly, quarterly, yearly). If the Reactivate from date is outside that term, an invoice cannot be created, so the error is shown.

Steps to Set It Up (Workaround)

Use the Import Subscriptions bulk operation:

  1. Go to Settings > Import & Export Data > Choose a Bulk Operation > Import Subscriptions
  2. Download the sample CSV
  3. Set the subscription start date to the desired reactivation date
  4. Set Invoice immediately to True to generate a charge invoice for activation
  5. Upload and run the bulk operation
