Why is a non-renewing subscription shown as active in RevenueStory?

This article explains why subscriptions marked as Non-Renewing continue to appear as Active in RevenueStory and how RevenueStory interprets subscription statuses.

    Solution

RevenueStory does not support a separate Non-Renewing subscription status. When a subscription is marked as non-renewing, RevenueStory continues to treat it as Active until the end of the current term.

The subscription transitions to Canceled only after the term ends. This behavior ensures that subscriptions remain visible for reporting and billing purposes until they fully expire.

    Additional information

RS supports the following subscription statuses:

    • Future: Subscriptions scheduled to start on a future date and have not yet entered trial or active status.
    • In trial: Subscriptions currently within the trial period.
    • Active: Subscriptions that are live and billed based on the plan, add-ons, and billing period.
    • Paused: Active subscriptions that are temporarily suspended.
    • Canceled: Subscriptions that have ended and will not renew.

Because Non-Renewing is not a supported status in RS, these subscriptions remain Active until the end of the subscription term. They move to Canceled once the term expires.
