Problem statement

Billing information from HubSpot does not sync to Chargebee unless all billing address fields are filled in. This issue prevents merchants from creating subscriptions when certain address fields, such as ZIP codes, are unavailable or not applicable for some countries.

Related scenarios

  • You’re trying to sync billing information between HubSpot and Chargebee, but some address fields (like ZIP code) are not required for certain countries.
  • You want to ensure billing details sync successfully even when some fields are left blank.

Solution

By default, Chargebee’s HubSpot integration requires that all billing address fields be filled in before syncing data to Chargebee. If any required field (such as ZIP code) is missing, the sync fails silently.

In HubSpot, the billing address mapping appears as shown below:

Below is an example of the Company Information and Chargebee Company Information sections in HubSpot, showing the corresponding billing address fields:

To fix this, Chargebee can enable a backend configuration that allows billing information to sync even when certain address fields are blank.

Setup instructions

  1. Confirm your requirement
Verify that you want to sync billing data from HubSpot even if some fields, such as ZIP code, are empty.

  2. Contact Chargebee support
Reach out to Chargebee Support and request to enable the backend property that bypasses the “all fields required” condition for billing address syncs.

  3. Trigger a manual sync
After the property is enabled, make a small update to the corresponding company record in HubSpot.
This update triggers a manual sync with Chargebee.

  4. Validate the sync
Wait about 15 minutes for the sync to complete.
Then, check the corresponding customer record in Chargebee to confirm that the billing address has been updated successfully.

Additional information

Once this backend property is enabled, billing information syncs to Chargebee even if some address fields are blank. This setup ensures smoother synchronization and supports regional variations where ZIP codes or similar fields are not required.
