You have xxxx left out of your daily quota of 2000 emails.

Problem statement

This article explains the daily email quota when using Chargebee’s SMTP server and how to manage or bypass this limit.

Solution

Chargebee lets you send email notifications using either its built-in SMTP server or a custom SMTP server.

When you use Chargebee’s SMTP server, the following daily limits apply:

  • Test site: Up to 50 emails per day
  • Live site: Up to 2000 emails per day (this limit may vary based on your Chargebee plan; see Plans and Pricing)

Note

A banner on the Logs > Email Log page shows the number of emails sent and the remaining daily quota.

The email quota resets every day at midnight (UTC).

To remove these limitations, configure a custom SMTP server. When you use your own SMTP server:

  • Chargebee’s daily email limits do not apply
  • Your SMTP provider determines the sending limits
  • You can manage deliverability and reporting through your provider

Setup instructions

  1. Go to Settings > Configure Chargebee > Email Notifications
  2. Click Change Settings
  3. Select the option to use your own SMTP server
  4. Enter your SMTP provider details:
    • Hostname
    • Username and password
    • Encryption type
    • Port number
  5. Save the configuration

Additional information

  • You can view the remaining email quota in the banner on the Email Log page.
  • For more details on configuring a custom SMTP server, see:
