Limitation on maximum amount of a subscription

Problem Statement

This article explains the maximum subscription amount limits in Chargebee and how to resolve errors when creating subscriptions that exceed these limits.

Solution

Chargebee enforces a maximum subscription amount based on whether High Value Currency (HVC) is enabled on your site.

Without HVC enabled

The maximum supported subscription amount is 21,474,836.47 (Integer Max Value). Attempts to create a subscription above this limit will return an "Amount exceeds" error. This can occur when:

• Creating a plan with a price above the limit
• Creating a subscription with a high quantity and unit price combination (for example, quantity 9,897,879 × unit price 87,777,799)

With HVC enabled

The maximum supported subscription amount increases to 90,071,992,547,409.91. This limit was updated in November 2022.
