Why can't I pause a subscription?

  • Error message: "Cannot schedule pause if subscription changes are scheduled"
  • Attempting to pause a subscription with an active ramp
  • Understanding subscription changes and their impact on pausing

Solution

When you attempt to pause a subscription in Chargebee and encounter the error message "Cannot schedule pause if subscription changes are scheduled," it indicates that there are pending changes to the subscription that must be addressed before pausing.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Check for Scheduled Changes: Navigate to the subscription details page.

    • Go to Subscriptions page, seclect the subscription that you want to pause.
    • On the subscription details page, you will see a schedule change pop-up.
  2. Identify Active Subscription Ramp: Determine if there is an active subscription ramp.

    • Go to Subscriptions on the left navigation menu.
    • Locate the subscription using filters, if needed.
    • Click the subscription under Subscription info to go to its details.
    • If a ramp is active, it must be deleted before pausing subscription.
  3. Remove or Complete Scheduled Changes:

    • If there are scheduled changes, you need to either cancel them or wait until they are completed.
    • To remove scheduled changes, on your subscription details page, click on the Cancel changes or use the Remove scheduled changes API.
  4. Attempt to Pause Again: Once all scheduled changes and ramps are cleared, try pausing the subscription again.

Important Notes

  • Ensure that no other changes are scheduled before attempting to pause.
  • Subscription ramps are often overlooked; always verify their status.
  • If the issue persists, contact Chargebee support for further assistance.
  • Regularly review scheduled changes to avoid conflicts with subscription management actions.
