Can I pass Google Analytics parameters along with Chargebee's hosted page URL?

Problem Statement

You want to know if you can pass google analytics parameters along with chargebee's hosted page url.

Solution

Checkout Pages V2

The URL based checkout is a part of the earlier version(V2) of the checkout pages. The URL allows you to pass additional information such as plan, addon, customer details to the checkout pages.

However, including Google Analytics parameters in Chargebee's hosted checkout page is not possible because the parameter name is rendered as a token when the URL is loaded.

Solution:

If the landing page for your customers is on your website, you could include the cross domain tracking script in the 'Subscribe' button of your store and then you could use the Google Analytics Parameters for tracking.

Checkout V3

Checkout and Self-serve portal(v3) load within your app and there is no redirection involved. Hence it supports Google event tracking.

Google Universal Analytics is getting deprecated and will stop processing data on July 1, 2023. Google has introduced a new analytics engine Google Analytics 4 (__GA4) that offers new and advanced features that can help you gain a deeper understanding of your website visitors' behavior, such as event tracking, machine learning, and cross-device tracking. With the new setup of GA4 and Chargebee-hosted pages it leverage the capabilities to analyze and optimize your website's performance, providing you with a competitive edge in the subscription business.  If your site is configured with Google Universal Analytics version, then you can refer to this link to migrate to Google Analytics 4.
If you're using Google Tag Manager to connect to your Google Analytics 4, we recommend that you use this separate integration, and never both.
