How do I apply discount coupons to one-time charges in Chargebee?

Problem Statement

You want to know how do I apply discount coupons to one-time charges in chargebee.## Related Scenarios

  • What settings need to be configured to apply coupons correctly to one-time charges?
  • Why can't I apply my existing coupons to standalone one-time charges?

Solution

Applying discount coupons to standalone one-time charges in Chargebee requires specific settings. This guide will walk you through the necessary steps to configure your coupons correctly.

  1. Ensure Coupon Type Compatibility: Verify that the coupon you are trying to apply is a one-time coupon. Only one-time coupons can be applied to standalone one-time charges.

    • Navigate to Product Catalog > Coupons and check the coupon type.
  2. Update Coupon Discount Details: Adjust the details to ensure the coupon can be applied to one-time charges.

    • Go to Settings > Product Catalog > Coupons.
    • Select the coupon you wish to modify, click Edit Coupon.
    • Under Discounts > Apply On, select Each Specified Item, click Update.
    • Under Discount Details of your coupon, , click Change and select the applicable one-time charge.

Important Notes

  • This limitation applies only when a charge/quick charge is added using 'Add One-Time Charges and Quick Charges', 'Add Charge', or 'Create Quick Charge'.
  • When the Charge/Quick Charge is a part of a subscription, all coupons that could be applicable are listed.
