Introducing the Chargebee CLI

How do I fix HubSpot plan and subscription sync when currency was missing at setup?

Problem Statement

Plans, prices, or subscriptions do not sync from Chargebee to HubSpot, and View sync log may show item price (product) or subscription sync failures without an obvious cause. This often happens when a currency used in Chargebee (for example, INR) was not available or not set as the default currency in HubSpot when you first connected the HubSpot Quote-to-Cash integration.

  • Product catalog sync fails or stays incomplete after you add a new currency in HubSpot.
  • Subscriptions do not sync because related plans or prices never synced successfully.
  • You enabled a currency in HubSpot after the initial connection, used Sync Now, and records still fail to sync.

Solution

The HubSpot Quote-to-Cash integration records the currency context from your initial Chargebee–HubSpot connection. If a required currency was missing in HubSpot at that time, enabling it or changing HubSpot’s default currency later may not update that stored context. Updating HubSpot first, then unlinking and reconnecting the integration in Chargebee, re-establishes sync with the correct currencies.

HubSpot Quote-to-Cash requires a Product Catalog 2.0 site in Chargebee and a HubSpot Sales Hub Professional or Enterprise plan (required for product library sync). You also need a Chargebee user with permission to manage apps and the HubSpot Quote-to-Cash integration on your site, and HubSpot access to configure account currencies.

Step 1: Align currencies in HubSpot

  1. In HubSpot, set your default currency (company currency) to match the primary currency you use for synced catalog and subscription data in Chargebee (for example, INR when your Chargebee prices are in INR).
  2. If you sync multiple Chargebee currencies, turn on multi-currency in HubSpot.
  3. In your HubSpot account currency settings, add and enable every currency that has price points in Chargebee.

See Prerequisites and Product synchronization for how catalog sync uses currencies during the initial connection.

Step 2: Review failed syncs in Chargebee

  1. In Chargebee, go to Apps > HubSpot and click View sync log under Sync Health (see Sync Dashboard).
  2. In the Sync Log table, filter for failed records (Status: ERROR) where Chargebee Object is Item price (synced as a HubSpot Product) or Subscription.
  3. Note whether failures started around the time of the first connection, before HubSpot supported the currency you need.

Unlink the HubSpot Quote-to-Cash integration in Chargebee by following the steps in Unlinking the Integration (including the steps for Multi-Business Entity sites, if applicable). Unlinking removes the connection and mapping in Chargebee without deleting existing data in Chargebee or HubSpot.

Step 4: Reconnect HubSpot Quote-to-Cash

With your HubSpot currencies configured as in Step 1, reconnect and configure the integration by following Connecting the integration and Quote-to-Cash Configuration so Chargebee captures the updated HubSpot currency settings. Wait for the initial catalog sync to finish, or trigger a manual sync using Sync Now (see Enabling autosync).

Plans and subscriptions that use the enabled currencies should now sync to HubSpot, and their status in the Sync Dashboard (View sync log) changes to SUCCESS. If individual records still fail after reconnecting, use Retry Sync or Redirect Sync as described in How to Run Retry or Redirect Sync in HubSpot Q2C.

Important Notes

  • Enabling a currency in HubSpot after the first connection, then running Sync Now alone, may not fix catalog sync when the integration was first connected without that currency.
  • Subscription sync depends on the customer and catalog objects syncing first; see HubSpot - Customer not synced error when subscriptions fail because the customer record did not sync.
