Introducing the Chargebee CLI

How do I resolve form errors when extending a quote expiry date?

Problem Statement

Extending the expiry date of an open quote shows "There were errors while submitting", even when every required field is filled. The quote includes an item price that was archived after the quote was created, so Chargebee rejects the update and does not record a quote_updated event.

  • The same error appears when you extend the expiry date and the form looks complete.
  • Logs > Events has no quote_updated event for the attempt.

Solution

Extend the expiry date from the quote details page. This action is available for a quote in Open status. Click Extend Expiry Date, choose 7, 10, or 15 days or a custom date, and click Confirm.

If the form shows "There were errors while submitting", an item price on the quote may have been archived after the quote was created. Check every plan, addon, and charge price on the quote. One archived price is enough to block the update.

  1. On the quote, note each price.
  2. Open that price in Product Catalog. If it is archived, activate it.
  3. Return to the quote, extend the expiry date again, and click Confirm.

The quote saves with the new expiry date, and Logs > Events shows a quote_updated event.

If you cannot activate the price, create a replacement quote. This creates a new quote and leaves the original quote unchanged.

  1. Open the customer and click Create Quote.
  2. Add only active item prices, set the expiry date, and save the quote.

The new quote shows the expiry date you set. Do not send the original quote as the updated offer.

Important Notes

  • An item price can be archived after it is already on a quote. Extending the expiry date checks those prices again.
  • Extending the expiry date does not send an email. Use Send Email on the quote if the customer needs the new date.
  • If the error remains after every item price on the quote is active, contact Support.
