Effect of "Edit trial end date" on Billing Cycles of a subscription

Problem Statement

Why did the billing cycles disappear or change to "Forever" after I edited the trial end date? I had a fixed number of billing cycles set.

Solution

When a subscription is in trial status with a fixed number of billing cycles and you end the trial before the scheduled activation date (using Edit > Next Billing Date), the number of billing cycles can change from Fixed to Forever. This happens because the remaining billing cycles were calculated based on the original activation date; changing the activation date can nullify them.

Steps to Restore Billing Cycles

  1. Go to the subscription details page.
  2. Click Edit Subscription.
  3. Set the (Fixed) number of billing cycles back to your desired value.
  4. Click Update.

Note:

This behavior applies only to subscriptions in Trial status.
