What is an SMTP server?

Problem Statement

You want to understand what an SMTP server is and how it is used in Chargebee.

Solution

An SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) server is a mail service provider used to send recurring, bulk, or custom emails to your customers. Chargebee provides a default SMTP service, and you can also configure your own SMTP server.

Email notifications can be sent using either Chargebee's SMTP server or your own. For setup details, see SMTP configuration.
