Prerequisites for Generating a Checkout Link via HubSpot Automation Trigger

Problem Statement

Users may face issues when generating checkout links via HubSpot automation if required conditions are not met in the HubSpot CRM. To ensure successful link generation, specific contact, company, deal, and line item configurations must be in place.

Solution

To generate a Chargebee checkout link using the Create Checkout Link automation trigger in HubSpot, configure the following prerequisites:

Steps to set it up

Step 1: Configure contact

  1. Go to the contact record in HubSpot.

  2. Set the Primary Contact and Billing Contact dropdown properties to Yes.

  3. Save the changes.

Step 2: Associate contact with a company

  1. Open the related Company record in HubSpot.

  2. Verify that the contact (marked as Primary and Billing) is listed under Contacts.

Step 3: Associate company with a deal

  1. Open the relevant Deal record.

  2. Ensure the company is associated and marked as PRIMARY.

Step 4: Add line items to the deal

  1. Add at least one line item to the deal.

  2. Ensure the line item uses either a Flat-priced or Unit-priced model.

    • Not supported: Tiered or stairstep pricing.
  3. If tiered pricing is required, use the manual Create Subscription option from the deal.

Step 5: Set deal type

  1. In the deal properties, set the Deal Type to either:

    • New

    • Existing

Step 6: Trigger automation

  1. Once all the above configurations are complete, select the Create Checkout Link automation trigger.

  2. Refresh the page.

  3. A Chargebee checkout link will be generated and automatically appended to the deal.
