This article explains why postal code validation cannot be turned off in Chargebee and what you can do instead to work within it.
Postal code validation is part of address verification and supports accurate tax calculations. It checks that the postal code matches the country-specific format (character length, etc.) at the customer billing level; it does not verify that the postal code actually exists. Chargebee does not allow this validation to be disabled because of its role in tax compliance.
Review tax integration settings
Go to Settings > Configure Chargebee > Taxes. Under EU Region configuration, check Enable location validation and ensure settings match your postal code requirements. Consult a tax advisor for local compliance.
Understand address verification
Postal code validation is part of the broader address verification used to calculate tax by customer location.
Use alternatives where possible
You cannot disable postal code validation when adding or updating a customer address. You can change other address fields: Customer > select a customer > Update Billing Info.
