Price Ramps
Price Ramps let you attach a stepped pricing schedule to a plan or addon price point. You set the schedule once in the Product Catalog—for example $0.99, then $4.99, then the regular catalog price thereafter—and every new subscription on that price point follows it automatically.
Use Price Ramps to offer introductory prices that move to full catalog price over billing cycles, without rewriting pricing logic for every subscription or campaign. To schedule plan, addon, coupon, or discount changes on an existing subscription instead, use Subscription Ramps.
How Price Ramps work
Each step (ramp interval) sets the price for a range of billing cycles. When the schedule completes, the customer pays the item price's catalog price going forward.
You configure the ramp on the item price once. Chargebee applies it to every new subscription on that price point. Step changes happen at billing cycle boundaries, with no proration for the ramp step. Existing subscribers keep the schedule captured when their subscription was created.
Each item price can have at most one active ramp.
Price Ramp example
A media streaming company offers a Basic monthly plan with a catalog price of $9.99. To grow acquisitions, they configure a price ramp so new subscribers start on an introductory price, then step up to full price.
| Plan | Currency | Frequency | Catalog price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | USD | Monthly | $9.99 |
| Billing cycles | Price charged |
|---|---|
| Month 1 | $0.99 (introductory ramp price) |
| Months 2–4 | $4.99 (introductory ramp price) |
| Month 5 onwards | $9.99 (catalog price) |
Every new subscription on this Basic USD Monthly item price inherits the ramp automatically. After the ramp intervals complete, the subscriber stays on the catalog price permanently.
