Apple Pay via Mollie

This feature is a Private Beta release. Contact Chargebee Support to enable Apple Pay via Mollie for your live and test sites.

This document explains how to configure Apple Pay via Mollie as a payment method within Chargebee. By enabling Apple Pay through Mollie, you can gain access to a high-conversion digital wallet for your Apple device users, while continuing to manage recurring billing and subscription logic via Chargebee.

Prerequisites and Compatibility

  • Enable Apple Pay in the Mollie dashboard; You will be using Mollie’s Apple Pay certificate.

Configuration in Mollie

  1. In Mollie Dashboard, go to Settings > Payments > Enable Apple Pay.
  2. Ensure card payments are active in that profile, which is mandatory for Apple Pay.

Configuration in Chargebee

Configure your Mollie Payment Gateway. If already configured, move to the next step.

Follow these steps to configure your Chargebee account to accept Apple Pay payments via Mollie:

  1. Log in to your Chargebee Billing site.
  2. Go to Settings > Configure Chargebee > Payment Gateway > Configured Mollie page.
  3. Enable Apple Pay.
  4. Click Manage to enter the necessary details:
    • Business name: Your customers will see this in their payment sheet.
    • Merchant Country Code: Select the country or the region in the drop-down list where the payment is processed.
    • Choose mandatory information to collect from customers: Select the option to retrieve the customer's billing address, shipping address, email, and phone from their Apple Wallet to autofill the details in the checkout pages. Once chosen, these fields become mandatory.
    • Click Save.
  5. Configure Smart Routing settings to enable Mollie as the preferred gateway for Apple Pay.

    Note:

The domain validation requirements of Apple Pay restrict the configuration to only one payment gateway that can actively support Apple Pay at a time. Hence, the option to enable Apple Pay via other payment gateways such as Stripe, Braintree, or Checkout.com must be disabled.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

1. Why is Apple Pay not showing in the checkout?

Apple Pay works only on iOS devices or when using the Safari browser on macOS. Ensure you are using one of these options during checkout. Apple Pay will not be available if you use a non-iOS device or a different browser.

2. Why is Apple Pay not available as a payment option if I have integrated Chargebee Checkout using the Drop-in Script?

Apple Pay is not supported with the Chargebee Drop-in Script because it uses iframes. Instead, Apple Pay is available only when using Chargebee Checkout via Checkout URL or API-based integration, which opens the checkout page in a separate tab or browser window.
