Why am I asked to setup an account when I am accepting an invite for my organisation?

Problem Statement

You want to understand why am i asked to setup an account when i am accepting an invite for my organisation.

Solution

Unable to access invite email.

Summary:

When you are accepting an invitation to an existing Chargebee site, you may get messages to create an account with Chargebee. This happens because Chargebee allows you to be a member of many sites(Owner for only one site). If you had been in the process of creating an account/sign up with Chargebee, the browser can detect the email address and would give this message to finish the setup process of the duplicate account you tried creating earlier.

Solution:

You can navigate and proceed through the process of claiming the other account that you started creating. Once you have successfully done, you can submit the cancellation request for the duplicate account you created. You will have to claim the site after which we would be able to cancel the site. You would have received an email with the subject "[Important] Complete Your Account Setup". You can claim the site by clicking the "Complete account setup" button. Choose a name to use for the Chargebee site to complete the process.

You can refer to this article for more information on how to claim your account.

Once you have completed the setup, please do navigate to manage the account in the duplicate site created and follow the steps raise a cancellation request with us by mentioning the reason as a duplicate account.

Once the above steps are complete you can use the pending invite email and accept the invite. Our solutions team will reach out to you once the cancellation is processed.

Note: Only the user with the owner role of the site in Chargebee can raise a cancellation request. So you will be able to raise the cancellation request only for the duplicate site and not for the other account for which you received the invite to be a member.
