QuickBooks Online error 6200/6210: Account period closed

Problem Statement

QuickBooks Online returns 6200/6210: Account period closed (or "The account period has closed, and the account books cannot be updated through the QuickBooks Online Services API") when syncing from Chargebee. The accounting period that contains the transaction date is closed.

Solution

QuickBooks Online returns this error when the accounting period that contains the transaction date is closed. Closed periods cannot be updated via the API; changes must be made in the QuickBooks Online website or by reopening the period.

Steps to Set It Up

  1. Update in QuickBooks Online: In QuickBooks, make the required changes (e.g. post or adjust the transaction) directly in the QuickBooks Online UI for that period.
  2. Or reopen the accounting period: In QuickBooks Online, reopen the closed period so that Chargebee can sync. After sync, you can close the period again if your process requires it.
