Differential Pricing

Overview

In addition to configuring the default price points for an addon or a charge, you can set different price points for the same addon or charge, based on the plan they are purchased with. This helps avoid creation of multiple versions of the same addon or charge for this purpose, or modify their price in the subscriptions manually. This can be handled automatically using differential pricing.

Scenario:

For example, let's consider a scenario where customers are offered an addon 24 X 7 Customer Support that comes at two default price points. When you allow your customers to purchase this addon along with any plan, or when you attach this as a mandatory addon to your Standard and Enterprise Plans, you can set differential pricing for this addon, based on the plan with which it is purchased, as shown in the below table:

Similarly, you can set differential pricing for a charge based on the plan with which it is being purchased.

Differential pricing not only helps address your unique pricing strategies for bundling plans and addons, but does so with a clutter free product catalog and zero manual intervention.

Setting Differential Pricing

You can set differential pricing for an addon or a charge from their respective details page.

Setting Differential Pricing for an Addon

To set differential pricing for an addon (price points), follow these steps:

1. Click Product Catalog > Addons and select the addon for which you are setting differential pricing.
2. In the addon details page, click +Set Differential Pricing.
3. Select the plan for which you are setting this differential pricing of the addon. You can use the search box to quickly search for your plan and select. Note that you will not be able to select a plan, unless at least one price point has been defined for the plan.
4. In the Differential Pricing for Addon page, go to the respective currency under billing frequencies and click Set Price. The default price is displayed, you can modify this as required.
5. Click Create.

You can repeat the above steps to set differential pricing for the same addon when attached to other plans. All the differential price points that you have set for an addon are displayed under the Differential Pricing section in the addon details page. You can click to view the price or even edit and delete them as required.

Setting Differential Pricing for a Plan with Variants

Select the plan for which you are setting the differential pricing of the addon. Ensure that all plan variants are also present in the addon to set up the differential price for each variation of the plan.

For example, if the Standard Plan has two price points set up, such as:

Ensure that the addon also has price points set up for the same variants - France and Germany. You can then select the variant associated with the addon from the Variant dropdown below and set the differential price.

Setting Differential Pricing for a Charge

To set differential pricing for a charge, follow these steps:

1. Click Product Catalog > Charges and select the charge for which you are setting differential pricing.
2. In the charge details page, click +Set Differential Pricing.
3. Select the plan for which you are setting this differential pricing of the charge. You can use the search box to quickly search for your plan and select. Note that you will not be able to select a plan, unless at least one price point has been defined for the plan.
4. In the Differential pricing for Charge page, select a frequency from the Choose Frequency drop-down, and click Set price to define prices in respective currencies.
5. Click Create.

Setting Differential Pricing for a Plan with Variants

Select the plan for which you are setting the differential pricing of the charge. Ensure that all plan variants are also present in the charge to set up the differential price for each variation of the plan.

You can then select the variant associated with the charge from the Variant dropdown below and set the differential price.

Once you set differential pricing for the addons and charges, whenever a subscription is created for a plan along with the addon or charge, the price of the addon will differ, based on the plan selected in the subscription.
