Error- Non-recurring addon cannot be added now as invoice is not raised immediately

Problem Statement

You encounter the error "Non-recurring addon cannot be added now as invoice is not raised immediately" when creating a subscription.

• Collecting Addon charge at the beginning/end of the trial period
• Plan Addon grouping

Solution

This error appears during subscription creation if you're trying to add a non-recurring addon to a plan that has a free trial period. Chargebee tries to collect the charges for the non-recurring addon during the creation of the subscription. However, for a trial plan, as there is no immediate charge, the system wouldn't be able to process the payment for the non-recurring addon separately.

To avoid this error, you can use the auto addon feature.

This feature allows you to configure the addons' applicability to plans and also lets you choose the event for which the addon charge has to be collected.

Configuration Steps

Step 1: Navigate to the plan details page for the required plan.

Step 2: Select the applicable addon under the Addons section.

Step 3: Set the addon charges to be collected for the event "On subscription trial start", as shown in the screenshot below.
