Multi Business Entity Gateway Configuration
The Multi Business Entity (MBE) feature enables you to configure payment gateways for each of your entities. Each entity can use its own gateways along with the gateways configured at the site level.
Prerequisites
- Multi Business Entity is enabled on your Chargebee site, and the business entities you need are created.
- Gateway configuration for a business entity is available on every Multi Business Entity site. No additional setup is required.
Gateways a business entity can use
A gateway you add for a business entity is available only to that entity. Other entities cannot use it, and the gateway's credentials and settings stay with that entity.
A gateway you add at the site level stays available to every business entity.
Smart Routing chooses which of those gateways processes a payment.
By default, the entity uses the Smart Routing rules configured at the site level. Checkout and the API follow those rules, including for a currency that has a gateway only at the site level.
Customize Smart Routing for an entity when that entity needs different rules from the site. If you customize it, set a gateway for each currency the entity accepts. Customizing Smart Routing does not remove site-level gateways from the entity. It changes which rules choose the gateway.
Configure a gateway for a business entity
Add the gateway while you are working in that entity. You configure it the same way you configure a gateway at the site level.
-
Switch to the business entity.
-
Click Settings > Configure Chargebee > Payment Gateways.
-
Click Add Gateway, select the gateway, and complete its configuration.

-
The gateway is available only to that entity. Gateways added at the site level remain available to every entity.
GoCardless accounts on a Multi Business Entity site
A site can connect one GoCardless account. Add that account at the site level or for a business entity. You cannot connect a second GoCardless account.
