Limitations and Feature or Integration Support in Multi-Business Entity

Important

  • Enabling the Multi-Business Entity feature is an irreversible action.
  • Features that are compatible with the Multi-Business Entity feature.

Product

  • The feature is only available for Enterprise plans. If your site is integrated with Salesforce, please ensure that it is on the latest integration version.

  • While enabling MBE for your site, it is important to choose the first/default entity and its ID carefully, as they cannot be changed later.

  • The feature does not support transferring configurations between Non-Multi-Business Entity and Multi-Business Entity sites. Transfer Configuration is available from a site or business entity to another business entity.

  • Moving subscriptions from one customer to another is not supported when Multi-Business Entity is enabled.

  • Once a business entity is assigned to a product family, it cannot be changed.

  • Product family name and ID are unique across the site. For example, if you are using CRM as the ID or name of the family, then you can't use the same ID or name in other business entities or site product families, plans, add-ons, and charges.

  • The feature is designed to function with a single regional data center for the Chargebee site.

  • Modifying the account hierarchy mapping is not allowed, meaning account hierarchy across business entities is not supported.

  • Currently, customers can only be mapped to a single business entity.

  • E-commerce platforms like ShipStation & BigCommerce are inaccessible after Multi-Business Entity enablement.

  • Except for the settings listed below, all other settings will be configured exclusively at the site level.

    • Organization Address
    • Time Zone
    • Smart Routing
    • Offline Payment Methods
    • Taxes (Tax/VAT Registration Numbers Only)
    • Email Notifications
    • Brand Styles
    • Invoice, Credit Notes, and Quotes

Note: We identified the settings that can be customized or overridden at the business entity level after thorough research and careful consideration. This ensures that we're introducing this capability with the most appropriate settings. Our ultimate goal is to offer flexibility for customization at the entity level for all available settings.

CRM Integrations

CRM integrations can be enabled at both site and business entity levels. The feature supports only following CRMs with given actions that need to be taken after Multi-Business Entity enablement:

  • HubSpot Q2C
  • Salesforce
  • Salesforce CPQ
  • Pipedrive

For HubSpot Q2C and Pipedrive: It's necessary to unlink and relink the integrations, and for Salesforce, no additional actions are needed.

Accounting Integrations

The feature supports only these Accounting Integrations - Netsuite, Intacct, QuickBooks Online, and Xero.

Netsuite and Intacct can be set up at the site and business entity level; on-site level integrations, it will transfer all business entity level information to Netsuite and Intacct. However, on business entity level integration, it will transfer only the corresponding business entity's information.

Taxes

The feature supports only these Tax Integrations - Avalara and TaxJar. Currently, separate tax profiles and engines for each business entity within a Multi-Business Entity domain are not supported.

Transfer Configurations

The feature does not allow for transferring configurations between Non-Multi-Business Entity and Multi-Business Entity sites. Transfer Configuration is available from a site or business entity to another business entity.

Upcoming

The following features are on the roadmap:

  • Business entity-specific product catalog settings.
  • Business entity-specific coupons and coupon sets.
  • Business entity-specific order configuration. See also: this FAQ.
