Cash App Pay via Stripe

This feature is a Private Beta release. Contact Chargebee Support to enable Cash App Pay via Stripe for your live and test sites.

Cash App is a popular consumer app in the United States that allows your customers to bank, invest, send, and receive money using their digital wallet.

Cash App Pay is a payment method available to Cash App customers for both single-use and recurring payments to businesses. Payments are funded using the customer's stored Cash App balance or a linked debit card.

Customers authenticate payments in one of the following ways:

  • Mobile checkout: Customers are redirected to the Cash App mobile application, where the payment is authenticated automatically. No additional action is required within the app. Customers are then redirected back to your site.
  • Desktop checkout: Customers scan a QR code using their mobile device to authenticate the payment.

This integration enhances checkout flexibility and improves conversion for businesses using the Chargebee platform.

Key Features

  • Supports one-time (say, one-time charges) and recurring (subscriptions) payments.
  • Payments are funded using a Cash App balance or a linked debit card.
  • Authentication via mobile app redirect or QR code.
  • Available only for customers in the United States.
  • Works with:
    • In-app Checkout
    • Full-page Checkout
    • Self-Serve Portal
    • Chargebee.js
    • APIs

Configuring Webhooks

To ensure your Chargebee—Stripe integration works seamlessly, you must configure webhooks in Stripe to listen for specific events. Webhooks allow Chargebee to receive real-time updates from Stripe whenever certain actions (like refunds) occur.

For this integration to function correctly, the following event must be enabled:

  • charge.refund.updated

These events notify Chargebee about the creation, failure, or update of a refund transaction in Stripe, ensuring accurate reflection within your Chargebee account.
