How to edit the Addon quantity from the portal?

Problem Statement

You want to know how to edit the addon quantity from the portal.

Solution

Scope:

How to edit the Addon quantity from the portal?

How to allow the customers to manage addons quantities?

Summary

By default, the addons or plan units will be displayed in the drop-down list with the limited quantity however, you can also mention the quantity manually. You can enable this by navigating to Settings > Configure Chargebee > Checkout & Self-Serve Portal > Portal > Allow customers to change plan quantity/Allow customers to change addon quantity

Solution

Navigate to Settings > Configure Chargebee > Checkout & Self-Serve Portal > Portal > Allow customers to change plan quantity/Allow customers to change addon quantity and toggle the button to enable these settings which will allow the users to edit and manage quantity for plans and addons.

Also, you can specify if you want this feature to be enabled only for 'Recurring'/ 'Non-Recurring' or both.

Also, you can specify if you want this feature to be enabled only for 'Addon/'Charges' or both.

There are three types of options available for unit-based Plans/Addons.

  1. Quantity-based increment (Predefined drop-down)

  2. Drop-down text box (Default drop-down)

  3. Usage-based (Metered Billing)

image

Quantity-based increment

This helps you to define the units as per your business requirements i.e, 5*5 (5, 10, 15, ....). You can achieve this by configuring JSON Metadata at the plan/addon level.

image

Default Drop-down

This feature provides a default drop-down list and also provides a text box to manually enter the units. This drop-down is not applicable to the flat-fee price model.

image

Usage-based

This is the enhanced Metered billing feature that is available only on latest product catalog and the user would not be able to define the units because of its usage-based configuration that can be defined only by you.

image

The units are defined at the plan or addon level from Chargebee UI or via API. You will see this option only if you have the Metered billing feature enabled a the Plan-level.

image

You can add/remove/manage the units from the Subscription details page.
