What are the Limitations

It's important to note that choosing this feature for your current test or live websites is a permanent decision that cannot be undone. Using the Delete or Repopulate sample data utility in your test sites will only remove your data, not your configurations.

We highly recommend conducting a smoke test of this feature on a new or trial site to evaluate how Chargebee's Multi-Business-Entity capability will affect the future state of your business processes. After testing on a trial site, if you are satisfied with the results, you can enable this feature on your existing test site, and then eventually on your live site.

The following are limitations for a few integrations.

  • Multi business entity feature is compatible with Product Catalog 2.0. This feature is not backward compatible with the earlier version.
  • This feature is only available for Enterprise plans.
  • The product catalog is common across all entities.
  • The feature only supports one regional data center for the Chargebee site.
  • Currently, Timezone is not supported at a business entity level.
  • Currently, this feature supports only these CRMs - Salesforce, HubSpot Q2C, and Pipedrive. Salesforce CPQ is releasing soon. Right now, only CRM integrations can be enabled at the business entity level. For example, Business Entity A is associated with Salesforce, and Business Entity B is associated with HubSpot.
To enable different integrations to work with MBE, certain actions need to be taken:
    • For Salesforce, there is no need to de-link and re-link the integration.
    • For Hubspot Q2C, it is necessary to unlink and re-link the integration, similar to setting up a new integration.
    • For Pipedrive, the integration must be unlinked and re-linked, as if setting up a new integration.
  • Currently, this feature supports only these Accounting Integrations - Netsuite and Intacct. Now you can set up independent integrations for NetSuite and Intacct at a business entity level apart from the site-level integration. Enabling this integration at the site level will transfer all business entity-level information to NetSuite and Intacct. Xero and QBO currently do not support this at the business entity level. However, it is expected to be supported by third quarter of 2023.
To enable different integrations to work with MBE, the following actions need to be taken:
    • For NetSuite, no action must be taken if the merchant does not want to use the MBE-NetSuite integration. However, if they use the MBE-supported integration, they must set it up again.
    • For Sage Intacct, no action must be taken if the merchant does not want to use the MBE-Sage Intacct integration. However, if they use the MBE-supported integration, they must set it up again.
  • Currently, this feature supports only these Tax Integrations - Avalara and TaxJar. The tax engines can now only be enabled at the site level, such as with platforms like Avalara. Enabling these tax engines at the site level will transfer all business entity-level information to Avalara.
  • Currently, this feature does not support special workflows like moving customers between business entities and account hierarchy across business entities.
  • Currently, this feature does not support Orders modules and e-commerce platforms - ShipStation & BigCommerce in Chargebee.
  • Currently, the multi-business entity feature cannot be enabled for your Chargebee site if the Apple App Store or Google Play Store integrations feature is enabled.
  • Currently, this feature does not support the electronic invoicing or e-invoicing module in Chargebee.
  • Transfer Configuration is available for site or business entity to an business entity,
    • You can only transfer configurations between two multi-business entity-enabled sites for test and live sites.
    • You cannot transfer configurations from non-multi-business entity-enabled sites to multi-business entity-enabled sites for test and live sites.
  • If you have multiple sites then you will not be able to migrate on your own to the new capability. The migration process will require the assistance of Chargebee's PS&I team, who will ensure that the right internal stakeholders are involved to create a smooth customer experience. If you require assistance with migration, please get in touch with eap@chargebee.com to submit a request.
