Data Operations
Apply taxes without collecting address in the checkout
Problem Statement
I charge the same tax for all regions but don't want to collect addresses. I sell digital goods in one region/country only.
Solution
You can pre-fill the billing country so taxes are calculated automatically even when customers don't enter an address. Disable all billing fields except country, then hide the country field and set a default value.
Steps to Set It Up
- Go to Settings > Configure Chargebee > Checkout & Self-Service Portal > Fields
- Disable all billing fields except Billing country
- Edit the Country field and set it to Hide in checkout
- Choose a country from the dropdown to pre-fill and click Apply
- Click Publish
The pre-filled country will appear on the invoice.
