How to edit the default language translations in Chargebee

Problem Statement

You want to rename labels or default messages in invoices or emails (for example, in French or German), or correct an incorrect default translation.

Solution

Chargebee has allowed editing of default languages since February 2021. Before that, merchants had to contact support to change default translations. You can now upload custom language packs for English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish without contacting support.

Configuration steps

1. Download the language pack for your default language.
2. Unzip the pack and open the internal folder for your language (for example, fr for French).
3. Open the CSV file you want to edit (for example, invoice.csv for invoice labels).

4. Edit the Value column with your updated text (for example, change "Date de la facture" to "Date").
5. Save the file with the .csv extension. You can use a text editor or Google Sheets.
6. Zip the pack and upload the language pack.
