This article explains how coupon codes behave in relation to the main coupon they are linked to. It covers applying, removing, and deleting coupon codes, as well as how redemption limits are enforced.
Solution
Coupon codes mirror the behavior of their associated main coupon. Their application, redemption, and deletion depend on the rules set for the main coupon.
Steps to understand coupon code behavior
Applying coupon codes
Coupon codes can be applied on the signup page or via the API.
Even if a coupon set is linked to the main coupon, you can still apply the main coupon directly to subscriptions. To prevent this, ensure that the main coupon code is not shared.
A coupon code can only be applied to a single subscription and cannot be reused.
Redemption limits
The number of coupon codes redeemable from a set depends on the main coupon’s maximum redemption value and redemption count.
Example: If the main coupon’s redemption limit is 10 and the set contains 100 coupon codes, only 10 codes can be redeemed.
If 9 redemptions have already occurred, only 1 coupon code from the set can be redeemed.
You can edit the main coupon to adjust its redemption limit or redemption count at any time.
Deleting or archiving coupon codes
When a coupon set is deleted, unused coupon codes are deleted and used coupon codes are archived.
If the main coupon is archived, unused coupon codes are deleted and used coupon codes are archived.
