Can we apply the setup cost while changing a subscription in Legacy Product Catalog sites?

Problem Statement

I cannot edit the setup cost while changing a subscription in Leap UI, but I could in Classic UI. Why? Can I apply setup cost when changing an active subscription?

Solution

Setup cost can be applied only during subscription creation or activation, not when changing an active subscription. This is expected behavior. When you change an active subscription to a plan with setup cost, the setup cost is not charged to the customer—even if it appears in the Leap UI.

Leap UI vs Classic UI: With the upgrade from Classic to Leap UI (Classic was phased out after January 15, 2023), the setup cost may appear below the plan when changing a subscription. You cannot edit it, and it will not be charged. In Classic UI, setup cost was hidden when changing active subscriptions.

When setup cost can be applied or edited: Setup cost can be applied or edited only when changing subscriptions in Future or In Trial states (in both Classic and Leap UI).
