How to delete a payment gateway?

Problem Statement

You want to remove a payment gateway and switch to a new one.

Solution

Migrate customer payment data to the new gateway first, then remove the old gateway from smart routing and delete it. Configure the new gateway before migrating so new sign-ups use it. To keep both gateways, see using more than one payment gateway.

Steps to Set It Up

  1. Migrate data: Go to Settings > Import & Export Data > Raise a migration request, or use this form. A migration engineer will assist.
  2. Remove from smart routing: After migration, remove the old gateway from Smart routing rules, then delete the gateway.
  3. Configure new gateway: Set up Smart routing so new transactions use the new gateway.

Important Notes

Note:

A gateway can only be deleted when all linked entities (e.g., credit cards, customers) are removed. If entities remain, you can archive the gateway instead of deleting it. See why can't I remove my gateway.
