Is Chargebee supported in Korea?

Problem Statement

You want to know if Chargebee supports collecting payments from customers in North or South Korea and which gateways are available.

Solution

Chargebee does not support any payment gateway that can be directly integrated for North or South Korea. South Korean currency (KRW) is supported; North Korean currency (KPW) is not.

North Korea

• KPW is not supported. You cannot create plans or add-ons in KPW.
• No payment gateway (including Stripe) can process payments for customers in North Korea.
• Chargebee cannot be used for business in North Korea.

South Korea

• KRW is supported. You can create plans, add-ons, and subscriptions in KRW.
• Chargebee cannot be connected to Stripe for South Korea from the Chargebee app.

Workaround for South Korea:

1. Create subscriptions in KRW in Chargebee.
2. Use a separate Stripe account to collect payments from South Korean customers. Stripe and Chargebee operate independently.
3. Manually record each payment in Chargebee for invoices generated. See this video walkthrough.
